Miuccia Prada loves to explore the fringes of fashion. Whether it be clashing patterns, extreme embellishment or slavishly observed themes, her Prada and Miu Miu lines are often among the most experimental and thought-provoking of the major luxury retail powers. In that way, Miu Miu and Rihanna are a match made in heaven; the Barbadian sexpot also seems to prefer that her fashion choices bold and head-turning, in only the most non-traditional of ways.
On a certain level, I’m surprised that I don’t see more photos of Rihanna sporting the two brands, particularly since the image of her and this giant Miu Miu Matelesse Frame Clutch just seems so…right. Of course Rihanna would carry a clutch that looks like it was intended for a 12-foot-tall woman. In fact, this entire look is pretty conservative for her – probably because she was out with her mom for Mother’s Day.

Just like we predicted, the iconic Fendi Baguette is suddenly everywhere. Dare I say that last night’s episode of Real Housewives of Orange County was actually…pretty decent? Of course, it had all the hallmarks of an entertaining episode: cosmetic surgery, on-site spray tanning, an over-the-top kiddie birthday party and actual familial strife being laid bare for the cameras to round out the hour. It seems as though the OC ladies might be learning something from their neighbors to the north in Beverly Hills.
As Real Housewives has started to decline a bit over the past year or two, it’s always seemed to me that the show would be more interesting with fewer episodes that contained more actual plot. If I had to re-edit this season, last night’s episode would be one that I’d keep almost entirely intact, which is about as good of an endorsement as I can give at this point. Now, on to the recap.
Lana Del Rey’s path to stardom may have been carefully planned, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it happened. Truth be told, I love her music. I have it on in the background while I work often and I totally dig it, a fact which I’m not even going to deny.
